Overview

The purpose of TheYoungConservative is to give a platform to the next generation of small-c conservative activists across the United Kingdom – regardless of which party, organisation or ideological strand they belong to – from which to promote their cause, explain what they’re doing and encourage others to become involved. We define young arbitrarily as being up to and including 30 years of age.

The Editors

It is important to stress that whilst the editors are members of the Conservative Party this blog is for the conservative movement. We are not in any way supported in this endeavour by our party. Naturally, we endorse our party, but in this enterprise we are independent of it.

Whilst the editors reserve the right to express their own opinions, there is room on TheYoungConservative for all strands of the conservative movement. It is not our purpose to promote our personal beliefs by denigrating others’. In this spirit of mutual co-operation the editors will write under their own names, not hide behind anonymity, and freely declare their interests. Edward Hallam is chairman of the Cities of London and Westminster Conservative Future, whilst Tarasyn Whitehead-Patey is social secretary of Exeter University Conservative Future.

Your Contribution –or- Don’t Be Modest

This blog is for you, the activists. Whilst the editors will write about organisations, events and people of which they are aware, we are neither omnipotent nor omnipresent. We want you to approach us and tell us what you’re doing.

  • Are you a young conservative working for a think-tank or a lobby group?
  • Are you in local government or standing for election?
  • Are you founding or working for a conservative organisation?
  • Do you have an innovative event, a conference or a protest coming up?
  • Do you write a conservative blog?
  • Are you issuing a press release?

Whatever your cause, we want to hear from you.

Comments

Commenting on articles will be moderated by the editors. Libellous or unfounded remarks will not be tolerated; nor will racist, homophobic or otherwise abusive comments which fail to contribute constructively. In this matter the editors’ judgement is final, and we reserve the right to take such action as we deem necessary to uphold the integrity of the blog.
